Shaolin last destructions

The Warlords were to cause the third attack on Shaolin. Chiang Kai Shek (chin.: Jiang Jieshi 蔣介石, 1887 - 1975) worked to reunite China by putting together a huge army in his Northern Expedition (chin.: běi fa 北伐,1926-1928), which was to rid the countryside of the warlords once and for all. At the 17th year of the Republic of China (1928) Shi Yousan (chin.: shíyǒusān 石友三, 1891 - 1940) a low rank officer of warlord Feng Yu Xiang (chin.: Féngyùxiáng 冯玉祥, 1882 - 1948) was appointed to drive out the warlord Fan Zhong Xiu (chin.: fánzhōngxiù 樊钟秀, 1888 - 1930), the commander of the 4th regiment in Henan Province.

Temple of Emptiness 空相寺

Kongxiangsi 空相寺

The Empty Appearance Temple or the Temple of Emptiness (chin.: kongxiangsi 空相寺) was called many names such as the Peaceful Forest Temple (chin.: dinglinsi 定林寺), the Western Mountain Temple (chin.: xishansi 西山寺) and Bear’s ear Temple (chin.: xiongersi 熊耳寺). The Emptiness Temple lies down on the foothills of Bear’s ear mountain (chin.: xiongershan 熊耳山), within the boundaries of Li country (chin.: licunxiang 李村乡), in Sanmenxia city (chin.: Sanmenxiashi 三门峡市) at Shan county (chin.: shanxian 陕县) of Henan Province (chin.: henansheng 河南省).

It was constructed during the Yongping era (chin.: yongpingnianjian 永平年间) 58 – 75, of the Eastern Han Dynasty (chin.: donghan 东汉) and has more than 1900 years history, as it is along with White Horse Temple the earliest Buddhist temples in China.

The Emptiness Temple was known as “Holy Land of the Shan county, under the blue Heaven” (chin.: shanjunzhi shengdi tianxiazhi minglan 陕郡之圣地天下之名蓝) with fine reputation.…

Gong Fu, Wushu or Wugong?

Although there are numerous schools of traditional Chinese martial arts flourishing across China, the Shaolin martial arts School form a particularly important part of the cultural heritage passed down by the forefathers of the Shaolin temple. These arts sometimes called Shaolin Gongfu (chin.: Shàolíngōngfu 少林功夫) or Shaolin Wugong (chin.: Shàolínwǔgōng 少林武功), are unique and brilliant and belong to the body of greater traditional Chinese Martial arts.

The terms ”Shaolin Gongfu” and “Shaolin Wushu” are used so easily today to reference almost any kind of martial art that comes from China, or any school that appears to teach Shaolin Martial arts. But what is the meaning of Wushu? “Wushu (chin.: wǔshù 武術)”, means martial arts (originally included the self-cultivation of all the arts of war such as horsemanship, archery, swordsmanship, etc. It is now classified as a sport.) Vital internal energy (chin.: qìgōng 气功) is a Chinese cultivation practice which, according to specific written documents, goes back at least 3000 years ago. During the legendary Chinese ruler’s Tang Yao (chin.: Táng yáo 唐堯 2353 - 2234 BC) monarchy; qigong art used as a form of dancing. The actual origins of Qi Gong, however, are lost in Chinese prehistory. Qi Gong was practiced during the earliest period in order to maintain good health.

In Master Lu’s Spring and Autumn (chin.: lǚshìchūnqiū 呂氏春秋) records which was completed in 239BC we read: In the beginning of the Tao Tang Tribes, the sun was often shut off by heavy clouds and it rained all the time; turbulent waters overflowed the rivers’ banks.
