The
importance of speech in the context of Buddhist ethics is obvious:
words can break or save lives, make enemies or friends, start war or
create peace.
Buddha explained right speech as follows:
1. to abstain from false speech, especially not to tell deliberate lies
2. to abstain from slanderous speech and not to use words against others
3. to abstain from harsh words that offend or hurt others
4. to abstain from idle chatter that lacks purpose or depth.

I express my happiness that I am with all of you who love Shaolin and its Tradition.
It’s great we can all be here together. First it’s a long shot to be born as humans. Then as humans who have found the Dharma and Shaolin tradition. And to be able to meet here and share. Such is karma. Take advantage and train hard.
May I ask where the starters of this site are from? Which temple? I am planning a trip to Guangzhou in July. I will stay in China for at least a year probably, in a city called Foshan (Buddha Mountain). Do you know the history of this nice city? Thousands of years ago three bronze statues of the Buddha were found and the city was named Foshan (Buddha Mountain), or Chancheng (Zen City). There are nice Buddhist and Daoist temples there. I’d also like to have the opportunity to travel to Henan and visit our home in Shaolin and surrounding areas- if my karma is so good.
It’s been days since I registered to this portal, but it is the first time I write. Greetings to all and have a nice journey.
Here is something for dear friend tianxin. When I was at your age I told my mother I was going to leave home and go to Himalayas. I am sure you can imagine what happened. Fortunately I didn’t go.
Now, several years later I am a Buddhist priest in a country that Buddhism is not allowed.
